These flat, circular, hard seeds of about 9mm in diameter are ideal as spacers in seed jewelry.
The fruits are straw-colored pods 15 to 30 cm long and 2.5 to 5.0 cm wide, containing six to twelve seeds. They rustle in the wind. The seeds are mainly dispersed by zoochory, the digestive juices of the cattle scarifying them.
The tree native to Asia has naturalized in the tropics around the world, it is often named Siris.
